Get the Glow With Me + Britta

Britta Aragon is another one of these extraordinary women I am so grateful to know and work with. Britta is not only a natural beauty expert, makeup artist, cancer survivor and author of When Cancer Hits, she is the creator of Cinco Vidas, an extensive resource for safe self-care AND an awesome natural skincare line,  CV Skinlabs. Amazing! It was a special honor for me to do her makeup for her recent photo session, where we had a great time sharing our mutual passions in beauty and wellness.

I am a huge fan of CV Skinlabs, which Britta created to heal, soothe and nourish the skin without potentially harmful ingredients and irritants. She was inspired to design the line after caring for her father during his eight-year battle with cancer. It's especially beneficial to anyone with compromised or sensitive skin. I truly love all the products, but don't leave home without the Restorative Skin Balm in my bag to treat dry lips and cuticles :)

I am so excited to announce that Britta and I will be teaming up again to present "How to Get Glowing, Luminous Skin in 10 Steps" at Shecky's Girls Night Out on March 7th and 8th. Shecky's has been bringing women together in cities across the country for over 10 years and this is the debut of their expert workshop series in NYC!

We would LOVE to see you there!

Introducing the Beauty Food Supper Club!

It was so much fun hosting the very 1st Beauty Food Supper Club with eco-gal pals Jolene Hart of Beauty Is WellnessSara Jane Mercer of Clean Pure and Simple! A seasonal celebration of foods that nourish beauty from the inside out, we feasted on a decadent, healthy 3-course meal created by Aimee Follette, Head Chef and Owner of Sun In Bloom

Me,  Aimee,  Jolene  and Sara Jane
Sun In Bloom was the perfect space for the Supper Club, it's warm, cozy and the food is amazing! Women from all over New York and even Philadelphia attended, and it was so nice to see everyone connecting and getting to know each other.

As each course came out from the kitchen, Jolene, Sara and I took turns introducing them and talking about their key beauty benefits. Aimee inspired us by talking about how simple it is to prepare these nourishing beauty foods for our selves and families.

Appetizer: Divine Green Radiance Soup

Entree: Hearty Balancing Macro Platter with Quinoa, Beans, Tempeh, Roasted Butternut Squash, Steamed Greens, Wakame, Raw Sauerkraut, and Sun In Bloom's famous Live Sesame Ginger Dressing

Dessert: Chocolate Mayan Spiced Fudge Cake

Everyone who attended received a gift bag filled with wonderful beauty products from our sponsors Jane Iredale, Kahina Giving Beauty, Tata Harper and Gnosis Chocolate. We thank them, as well as Sun In Bloom and all the beautiful women who came out and helped make this event such a success! Check out more photos here.

We had such an amazing time and we can't wait to do it again in April, stay tuned for date!

Fashion Week Goes Vegan

Okay, maybe that's an overstatement (for now)! However, this past Fashion Week, I had the unique opportunity to be the lead makeup artist for the first all-vegan show, Vaute Couture. Designer Leanne Mai-Ly Hilgart presented her super-cute Fall/Winter 2013 collection, created using animal-free, recycled and sustainable materials. I designed the makeup look for the show using the lovely vegan beauty brand, DeVita Natural Skincare and Color Cosmetics

The collection was inspired by a balance of masculine and feminine elements, so I chose to pair full, strong brows with a bright pop of color on cheeks, using DeVita's Tender Blush. Designer Leanne loves the anime character Sailor Moon, so we added some star-confetti to the cheekbones in honor of her!

The show was sponsored by the Humane Society of New York and even featured adorable rescue dogs that were up for adoptionSalon Champu, a salon in the Lower East Side, did a fabulous job styling with vegan hair products. The whole presentation was beautiful, inspiring and really proved that eco fashion can be cool, trendy and cruelty-free at the same time. A very welcome breath of fresh air for the fashion industry, I would say!

Big thank you's to DeVita and Vaute... and to my awesome makeup team for bringing the vision to life! See more pictures and behind the scenes video!
