My Summer 2013 Tips + Trends

I had the pleasure of presenting Summer 2013 Tips + Trends at Shecky's Girls Night Out in NYC. I thought I would share the recap with you- enjoy! 

Sun Protection is Paramount

  • Choose safe sunscreen: most brands contain harmful ingredients that penetrate the skin and can cause future health issues.
  • Avoid retinyl palmitate (Vitamin A), which is linked to increased cancer cell growth, and oxybenzone, fragrance and parabens which are hormone disruptors and skin allergens.
  • Look for zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as active ingredients and products that are paraben, fragrance, and petro-chemical free.
  • Visit for a comprehensive guide to healthiest sunscreens, foundations, lip balms and skincare.

Hydrate Inside and Out

  • In Summer months, our body needs extra hydration due to more perspiration, activities and dehydrating beverages like caffeine and alcohol.
  • 7+ glasses a day help to fight heat exhaustion, fatigue and keeps skin supple.
  • Great addition: coconut water! It is a rich source of electrolytes, minerals and B-vitamins.
  • Fresh lemon juice in water helps to flush toxins, aids in digestion and is rich in vitamin C.
  • Spray your skin with hydrosols (floral waters) to hydrate, cool off and soothe inflammation. (One of my faves is Blissoma Tone Adaptive Energy Tonique- so refreshing!)
