Okay, this book has inspired my first ever Life Is Beautiful book review! Since scooping up my copy of Kris Carr's "Crazy Sexy Diet" last week (and tearing through it), I have been telling everyone I can about it. First off, if you don't know who Kris Carr is, allow me to introduce: she is motivational speaker, author, cancer survivor and totally inspiring "Wellness Warrior".
Diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at age 31, Kris empowered herself with knowledge and healed herself holistically. Making major changes in her lifestyle included meditation, juicing and embracing a plant-based diet. In 2003, her uplifting and courageous journey was recorded by TLC in a documentary called "Crazy Sexy Cancer" and Kris has been spreading the wellness word ever since.
With two books and an award-winning website, Crazy Sexy Life, under her belt, Kris Carr has just released her latest gift to the world, Crazy Sexy Diet. Already on the New York Times bestseller list at #6, the book has been dubbed a "must-read, modern wellness bible" and for good reason. I have a pretty nice collection of books on health and nutrition and I have to say, this one TRULY is a MUST-read!
What's so good about it, you ask? Well, most importantly, it is chocked-full of information that you NEED to know about your body and what you put in it. Crazy Sexy Diet features chapters such as "pHabulous", all about your pH balance, enzymes and alkalinity, "Cupcakes, Coffee and Cocktails", about the affects of sugar consumption and "Go With Your Gut", the run-down on why keeping your "pipes" clean is crucial. Everything you need to know but more than likely weren't taught along the way...
The info is presented in such a candid, entertaining way, it feels as though Kris is talking to YOU all the while...and man, is she funny! I had several chuckles throughout the read and I must say that is a rarity. It definitely makes reading about a serious topic, your health, so much more fun! Not to mention, the chapters are colorful and concise, which also lend to easy reading.
"Crazy Sexy Diet" is the perfect combination of information and inspiration and I, for one, am inspired! I'm pretty positive you will be too. She really empowers you to WANT to make changes in your diet and lifestyle, which is Step #1. Much props and gratitude to Kris Carr for sharing this tremendous gift with us. I officially LOVE her! Please do yourself a huge favor and read this book ASAP!
