The latest makeup launch from Kett Cosmetics features Hydro Liquid Pigments. This blendable, water-based formula contains fine, iridescent shimmer, anti-oxidant Vitamin E and hydrating glycerin. It creates amazing highlights and contours in rich, metallic shades that enhance all skin tones. Inspired by sexy 70's Glam, Studio 54 decadence and freedom; the launch pays homage to style icons like Bianca Jagger and David Bowie. The image, featuring beauties Jaslene (ANTM!) and Loredana (Kett's fave muse), was shot by Roque himself! Sheer talent and passion...love it!!!

Dani Evans

photo by Wendy Hope, hair by Dante Blandshaw, makeup by me

You may recognize her as the winner of America's Next Top Model, Cycle 6, but Dani has certainly made her own way in the fashion industry. I was more than happy to shoot with her for a beauty test, several months back and again today, for the premiere issue of an exciting new magazine. With amazingg bone structure and beautiful skin, Dani's face is a makeup artist's dream! Soo much fun to work on and she is a total sweetheart. Dressed to the nines by fab stylist Harold Jay, Dani worked her poses like a consummate pro. I was truly impressed with the energy and diversity she brought to the set. Cannot wait to see the final product, due out in July. Keep ya posted!

The Beauty of Youth

Camille @ New York Models

Anna B. @ VNY

Most models begin their career at an age many if us were still bike riding and going to school dances! These young beauties, Camille, 15 years old and Anna, age 16, have a maturity and grace beyond their years. I had the pleasure of doing their makeup for shoots with photographer William Lords, a Boy Wonder himself! He shoots some of the hottest and freshest faces in the biz. Thanks, Mom!

A Woman in the Mirror by Picasso

When it comes to my first memories of makeup, hair and fashion, my mother was definitely the catalyst. A brown-eyed beauty whose looks were often compared with stunner Raquel Welch, mom took pride in her appearance and was always well put together. In other words, she didn't go out without her hair done, lipstick on and a cute outfit! Mom changed her look almost as much as I do now, experimenting with different hair colors and styles. She encouraged me to have fun with self-expression, allowing me to crimp my hair and get the much-coveted, spiral perm in the 6th grade. (It was the eighties!) A bit later, mom taught me how to groom my eyebrows, add a bit of blush and lipgloss. It wasn't anything she imposed on me, just a natural part of becoming a young woman that I welcomed and enjoyed. While many of my other friends had to hide their makeup or clothing from their parents, I felt really lucky that my mom would actually teach me how to wear it. I don't have a daughter but I do think that this is a much healthier way of embracing the teenage years and beyond. To this day I'm so grateful for my mom's inspiration and loving guidance into the world of beauty! Little did she know that years later, I would be making up hundreds of faces with the knowledge and enthusiasm she passed on to me.

Dream Hair

Loving the new hair story I shot with fabulous photog Julia Pogodina and hair genius Linh Nguyen. Entitled "Dreamers" for its' ethereal feel, the story features Major Models Jae, Samantha and Tianna, respectively. Linh created voluminous hair primarily using with the models' own and created movement without the use of a fan! (Hence the title hair genius.) It was my first time working with Julia and I love her energy and creativity on set. Her lighting and technique created an otherworldly vibe that perfectly balanced the wild childs! I just gave 'em glowy skin, a bit of metallic eyeshadow and watched the magic unfold. Coming to a glossy magazine near you!

Ooh, la la!

Antonio

Djimon

One of my favorite videos from the vault, circa 1990. Directed by legendary photographer Herb Ritts, this video is visually gorgeous! Not only is Janet rockin' a hot, 1960's/Brigitte Bardot look, she is flanked by the young and beautiful Antonio Sabato, Jr. and Djimon Hounsou. Both actors and Calvin Klein underwear models, these men are just the sweetest eye candy.  Appreciate... and  enjoy ;)
